- Indications for Use.
Rheumatoid arthritis, ankylosing spondilitis, osteoarthrosis, tendinitis, synovitis, acute gouty arthritis, reactive arthritis.
- Action
Indomethacin takes anti-inflammatory, antipyretic action, it favors weakening of pain syndrome, especially the pains in joints at rest and in motion, also the reduction of morning joint stiffness and puffiness, and favors motion volume expansion.
In long-lasting administration it takes desensitizing action. In local use the drug eliminates pain, reduces edema and erythema and favors the reduction of morning stiffness and motion volume expansion.
- Posology and Administration
For oral intake and parenteral introductions. It should be adjusted individually, disease-severity oriented. Adults are administered orally in the initial dose of 25 mg each 2-3 times/daily. In case of insufficient evidence of clinic effect a dose should be increased up to 50 mg 3 times/a day. Retard tablets should be administered 1-2 times/a day. The maximal daily dose is 200 mg.; at achievement of effect the treatment will be continued during 4 weeks in the same dose or in
underdose. In event of long-lasting intake a daily dose should not exceed 75 mg. Indomethacin should be taken after meal.
For the treatment of acute states or for stopping of aggravation of a chronic process There is administered intramuscularly 60 mg of Indometacin 1-2 times/a day. The duration of intramuscular administration is 7-14 days. Then the drug is administered orally or rectally - 50-100 mg 2 times/daily, in this case the maximal daily dose should not exceed 200 mg. For the supporting treatment there are administered suppositories 50-100 mg each single-shot before bed-time.
Topica. Eye drops: single-shot dose - 1 drop, frequency and duration of the use should be determined individually. Ointment, gel and aerosol should be applied 2 times/daily on afflicted joints or body parts, rubbed in the skin; compression bands should be applied.

- individual hypersensitivity to Indomethacin.
- ulcer disease of the stomach and/or bowels in an aggravation stage;
- pregnancy and breast-feeding;
- childhood (under 14 years of age).

Caution is needed in administration of Indomethacin to the patients who suffer from psychic disorders, depression, Parkinsonism, epilepsy.
With great caution and only under immediate medical care it is possible to use Indomethacin in patients with bronchial asthma, allergic ("hay") cold, polyps of nasal mucus, likewise in event of chronic obstructive diseases of air passages in danger of the emergence of bronchial asthma fit.

- Overdosing

Pregnancy and Lactation
It is not recommended to administer in the period of pregnancy, especially in the III-d trimester of pregnancy. During the treatment breastfeeding should be withdrawn.
