5. Posology and Administration
PROSCAR should be taken 1 tablet of 5 mg. each regardless of meal intake. Only a doctor should recommend how to take the drug.
One should consider that prostate have being enlarged during many years to the degree at which frank symptoms of the disease may be determined. PROSCAR is able to reduce frankness of symptoms and the severity of the illness only with a long-termed administration of the drug.
If one dose of PROSCAR is missed it is recommended to continue the treatment on the usual regimen. Do not take an extra dose of the drug.
There is no need to specify a dose for patients with renal failure of various grades of severity, likewise for patients of advanced age.
6. Counterindications

10. Side Effects
Sexual system: painful ovaries, impotency, decrease of libido, ejaculation distortions, reduction of ejaculate volume.
Endocrine system: increased and painful breast glands.
Allergic reactions: rash, skin itching, hives, hydrops of lips and face.
With a long-term use of PROSCAR there is no observed increase of frequency and intensity of side effects, whereas a number of cases of sexual function disruption, connected with the administration of the medication, tends to reduce.
11. Pregnancy and Lactation
PROSCAR is indicated only for the treatment of men with adenoma of prostate. Women and children must not take PROSCAR.
Pregnant women and women who might be pregnant must not touch ground tablets of PROSCAR or the ones which have lost integrity. If the active substance of PROSCAR (finasteride) with oral administration or in the contact with the skin enters the woman’s body who later will give a birth to a boy, the baby born by her may have pathology of genitals. The cover of the tablets protects from the contact with the active substance if somebody touches the tablet.
