Repaglinide
Type 2 sugar diabetes together with diet therapy and physical exercises, including combined therapy (when a diet therapy and physical exercises and other medications therapy have proven to be inefficient).
Repaglinide rapidly deflates the glucose level in blood by stimulation of the release of insulin from the cells of pancreatic gland.
The drug is to be taken orally 15–30 minutes before meal, usually 3 times a day before main meals. A dose should be selected on an individual basis. The starting dose is 0,5 mg. A dose advance should be done not earlier than in 1–2 weeks after the start of treatment, looking about the level of glycemia. Maximal one-shot dose is 4 mg, a daily one is 16 mg.
- Type I diabetes;
Care should be taken in kidney diseases patients. In hyposthenic patients and in subnutrition patients a dose of Repaglinide should be selected with caution. In the period of the treatment patients should avoid alcohol drinking.
Consult your attending doctor on the use of diverse medications in the same period of treatment.
Symptoms: hypoglycemia (sense of hunger, feeling of tiredness and weakness, headache, elevated excitement, anxiety, drowsiness, restless sleep, nightmare dreams, the change of behavior like those in alcoholic intoxication, relaxation of concentration of attention, impairment of speech and vision, mental confusion, paleness, nausea, rapid heartbeat, convulsions, cold perspiration, coma, etc.).
Low level of sugar in blood, dyspepsia (nausea, abdominal pain, very seldom – diarrhea or constipation, vomiting), allergic reactions (skin rash, itching, hives); in specific cases – compromised liver function, vision impairment.
The use in pregnancy and breastfeeding is not advisable.
