Symptomatic treatment of rheumatoid arthritis; pain syndrome in osteoarthritis, arthroses, degenerative joint diseases.

4. Action

Meloxicam takes anti-inflammatory, pain-relieving, anti-pyretic action.

5. Posology and Administration

Daily dose of 7.5-15 mg; the maximal daily dose (regardless of the applied drug formulation) — 15 mg. In patients with elevated risk of the development of side effects the initial dose will be 7.5 mg/daily. In hemodialysis patients with severe kidneys insufficiency the maximal daily dose is 7.5 mg. Tablets should be taken during meals, without chewing, rinsing them with water or any other liquid. Rectal suppositories are used once/daily.

6. Counterindications

— ulcer disease of stomach and duodenal in an aggravation phase;
— bleeding of various genesis (also from gastrointestinal tract and cerebrovascular bleeding);
— severe kidneys insufficiency (in the absence of hemodialysis);
— severe liver insufficiency;
— severe heart insufficiency;
— Aspirin-sensitive bronchial asthma;
— childhood under 15 years of age;
— pregnancy;
— lactation (breast-feeding);
— hypersensitivity to the drug’s components.

Caution should be taken while using Meloxicam in patients with ulcer and duodenal disease.
