5. Posology and Administration

The drug should be taken orally regardless of meal, 20-40 mg/daily in one intake, if needed, a dose may be increased up to 80 mg. In patients who suffer from moderate compromised liver function a daily dose should not exceed 40 mg.

6. Counterindications

Hypersensitivity, obstruction of bile passages, bad compromised function of liver and kidneys, pregnancy, breastfeeding.

With caution it is administered to patients who suffer from compromised kidney function, compromised liver function, severe heart failure, gastric ulcer or peptic ulcer disease, organs of intestinal tract disease.
Use limitations: childhood and adolescence (safety and efficiency of use in children and teenagers are not determined).

8. Interface with Other Medications

It is not well to use the drug together with other medications without a doctor’s order.

9. Overdosing

Symptoms: evidenced fall of arterial tension.

10. Side Effects

On the part of nervous system and sense organs: > 1% - headache, dizziness. On the part of intestinal tract organs: > 1% - nausea, dyspepsia, pain in the stomach, diarrhea. On the part of respiratory system: > 1% - cough, pharyngitis, flu-like symptoms, tolerance reduction to upper respiratory tract infections. Others: > 1% - pain in the chest and loins, myalgia, infections of urinary tracts, fall of hemoglobin contents, elevation of uric acid rate.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

Telmisartan is counterindicated in pregnancy. Before a planned pregnancy in good time it is recommended to substitute the drug by another anti-hypertensive remedy. During the treatment breastfeeding should be stopped.
