5. Posology and Administration

Pregabalin should be taken orally in a daily dose from to 150 mg to 600 mg in 2 or 3 intakes regardless of meal.
The treatment of neuropathic pain should be started from a dose of 150 mg/daily. In accordance with the attained action and tolerance a dose in 3-7 days may be increased up to 300 mg/daily, and if needed in 7 other days a dose may be increased up to the maximal one -  600 mg/daily.
In epilepsy the treatment will be started from a dose of 150 mg/daily. In view of the attained action and tolerance a dose may be increased up to 300 mg/daily after 1 week, and after another week a dose may be increased up to the maximal one -  600 mg/daily.

6. Counterindications

- Childhood and adolescence under 17 years of age inclusive (there are no data on the use of Pregabalin);
- Hypersensitivity to the active substance or to any other component of Pregabalin.
- Pregnancy and breastfeeding.

7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

Due to the fact that the medicine mainly is excreted with kidneys, in cases of compromised kidneys function it is recommended to reduce a dose of Pregabalin. While Pregabalin administration takes place elderly patients (over 65 years of age) should take caution. Elderly people with compromised liver function may require a lesser dose of the drug.
If there is a need to stop Lyrica therapy in neuropathic pain or epilepsy patients, it is recommended to do it step by step during as a minimum 1 week. Alcohol consumption while taking Lyrica may sometimes provoke a hypernormal drowsiness.

Lyrica administration together with other medicines is harmless as a rule. Still, nevertheless, tell your doctor about all the medicines which you are going to take, including over-the-counter drug, vitamins and herbs.
