3. Indications for Use.
Enhancement of muscle tonus with:
- cerebrospinal sclerosis;
- diseases of spinal cord,
- insult;
- infantile cerebral paralysis;
- meningitis;
- brain injuries;
- alcoholism.

4. Action
Decreases muscle strain (reduces the tonus of skeleton muscles).
Also acts as analgesic.

5. Posology and Administration
By mouth during meals. If you miss a routine dose of the drug do not take a double dose.

Adults: an initial dose 5 mg (1/2 tablets 10 mg each) 3 times a day. Gradually each three days the dose is having been increased up to a therapeutic performance (usually up to 30 - 75 mg a day). Patients who need larger Baclofen doses (from 75 mg to 100 mg a day), should use the drug in tablets 25 mg each. For patients over 65 the drug dose should be increased with caution due to the enhanced risk of side effects. Maximal day dose is 100 mg.

Children: initial dose is 5 mg (1/2 tablets 10 each) 3 times a day. In case of necessity the dose may be carefully increased every 3 days. Usually there recommended the following doses: from 1 to 2 years old - 10 – 20 mg a day, from 2 years old to 6 years old - 20 -30 mg a day, from 6 to 10 - 30 - 60 mg a day. For children over 10 years old a maximal dose is 1,5 - 2,0 mg/kg of the body mass.

7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…
- ulcer disease of stomach or duodenal,

8. Interface with Other Medications
Enhances the action of the drugs affecting nervous system, hypotensive remedies, and ethanol. Tricyclic antidepressants enhance the decrease of muscle tonus; levodopa and cardidopa enhance the risk of the development of hallucinations, mental confusion, and excitement. A patient should inform the doctor about all the drugs he or she uses.

9. Overdosing
Symptoms: mental confusion, muscle hypotension, suppression of respiratory center, coma, hallucinations. Treatment: abundant drinking, diuretics, with suppression of respiration – artificial ventilation of lungs.

10. Side Effects
- sleepiness, dizziness, gait disorder, undue fatigability, mental confusion, apathy, euphoria, depression, paresthesia, ataxia, tremor, nystagmus, pares of accommodation, hallucinations, convulsions, loss of myoclonic threshold;
- nausea, vomiting, dry mouth, retention of feces, diarrhea;
- retention of urine, dysuria, enuresis, in case of a long-lasting use – disruption of function of kidneys;
- arterial hypotension;
- myalgia, muscle weakness.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation
Use in pregnancy is possible only in the case when a supposed performance of the therapy will overbalance a potential risk for fetus. During therapy it is recommended to cease breast feeding.

12. Driving
Drivers of vehicles and people whose profession is connected with an elevated concentration of attention should not use this drug.

17. Posology and Administration.

• narcotic remedies (pain reliefs), such as meperedine (Demerol), morphine (MS Contin, MSIR, others), propoxiphene (Darvon, Darvocet), hydrocodone (Lorcet, Vicodin), oxicodone (Percocet, Percodan), phentanyl (Duragesic) and codein (Fiorinal, Fioricet, Tylenol No.3, others);
• sedative drugs such as phenobarbital (Solfoton, Luminal), amobarbital (Amytal) and secobarbital (Seconal);
• phenotiazines, such as chlorpromazine (Thorazine), fluphenazine (Prolixin), mezoridaxine (Serentil), perfenazin (Trilafon), proclorpemazine (Compazine), tioridazine (Mellaril) and trifluoperazine (Stelazine); or
• antidepressants such as doxepin (Sinequan), imipramint (Tofranil), nortriptyline (Pamelor), fluoxetine (Prozac), paroxetine (Paxil), certralin (Zoloft), phenelzin (Nardil) and tranilcipromin (Parnate).
• Karisoprodol may interact with other drugs not mentioned in this instruction. While taking other prescribed medicines, likewise the medicines sold without prescription, consult your doctor.

21. Overdosing.
Overdosing of Karisoprodol manifests with low blood tension (weakness, tiredness, mental confusion), weak breath and faintness.

22. Side Effects.

• allergic reactions (tightness of the chest; diminution of airways; hydrops of lips, language, face or rash);
• paralisis (loss of sensitivity) or extreme weakness;

• agitation or tremor.

• sleepiness or dizziness;
• headache;
• depression;
• blurred vision;
• insomnia; or
• hiccup.

23. Pregnancy and Lactation.
• It is not known whether the drug could be harmful to fetus. Do not take Karisprodol without consulting your doctor if you are pregnant.
• It is not known whether Karisoprodol might pass into breast milk. If you are breastfeeding do not take the drug without consulting your doctor.

24. Driving.
It is necessary to be careful while driving, working with industrial equipment or while doing some other work that requires alertness. Karisoprodol may provoke dizziness or sleepiness. If you have such a state, avoid hazardous activity.
