3. Indications for Use.

Mental debility of Alzheimer type (weakly and moderately evidenced, in event of apparent or diagnosed Alzheimer disease).

5. Posology and Administration

Rivastigmine should be taken orally during meal. The initial dose should be 1,5 mg each twice a day (in event of hypersensitivity -  1 mg each twice daily). If acceptability of the drug is good, after 2 weeks it is possible to increase a dose up to 3 mg twice daily and further on with an interval in 2 weeks up to 4,5 and 6 mg/daily. The supporting dose is 1,5-6 mg twice daily. The maximal daily dose is 12 mg/daily. In order to ensure the best therapeutic effect a dose should be maintained on as good as possible tolerance level.

6. Counterindications

Hypersensitivity to Rivastigmine, breastfeeding.
Use limitations: ulcer stomach and duodenal disease, sick sinus syndrome, arrhythmia, broncho-obstructive syndrome, obstruction of urinary tract (adenoma of prostate gland), convulsions and closed angle glaucoma.

The side effects observed during the treatment may be reduced after a skip of one or several doses of Rivastigmine. If the side effects persist, a daily dose of the drug should be reduced to the previous well-tolerated level. There is no need to adjust a dose in compromised kidneys or liver function.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

The use in the period of pregnancy is possible only in the case of extreme emergency, in the absence of treatment alternative. While treatment, it is recommended to give up on breastfeeding.
