3. Indications for Use.

Arterial hypertension, backward heart failure, glaucoma, diabetes insipidus, hepatic cirrhosis with portal hypertension and hydroptic-ascitic syndrome, nephritis, nephrosis; seldom – toxemia of pregnancy.

5. Posology and Administration

Posology and administration are to be set up individually. When there is arterial hypertension the drug should be taken orally — 25–100 mg once daily, when there are heart failure and cirrhosis the drug may be taken up to 200 mg/daily. For children a daily dose is 2 mg/kg, the maximal dose for the age less than 6 months is 3,5 mg/kg/daily, less than 2 years of age it is 12,5–37,5 mg/daily, 3–12 years of age it is 100 mg/daily.

6. Counterindications

Hypersensitivity, evidenced compromised kidney function, liver failure, bad forms of podagra and diabetes, severe cerebral or coronary aterosclerosis, evidenced compromised liver and kidney function, pregnancy (I-st trimester), lactation.

The drug should be used with caution in patients who suffer from podagra and diabetes.
Kidney failure patients need systematic monitoring of the blood picture.
When there is a long-term administration it is well to follow potassium high-grade diet.

Compositional disorder of blood, nausea, loss of appetite, diarrhea or constipation, thirst, dizziness, headache, weakness, numbness of limbs, dizziness and blackout when one rises from sitting or lying position into a standing up position, tachycardia, performance impairment of liver and excretion of bile, inflammation of pancreatic gland, allergic reactions.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

During pregnancy Hydrochlorothiazide therapy is possible on a doctor’s order only, on vital concernment and strictly individually. During the treatment breastfeeding should be avoided.
