- Indications for Use.

The drug is administered orally (during meal or after it).
The starting daily oral dose is 50-75 mg (25mg in 2-3 intakes), and then the dose is being gradually increased by 25-50 mg up to the desired anti-depressive outcome. The optimal daily dose is 150-200 mg (maximal part of the dose is to be taken before night sleep).
After a sustainable anti-depressive performance has been received the doses are to de reduced gradually and slowly in 2-4 weeks. In cases of the emergence of signs of depression while the doses are being reduced it is necessary to resume the previous dose.
In elderly patients in mild impairments the doses are 25-50-100 mg (maximally) in divided doses or once daily before night sleep. For the prevention of migraine, chronic Neutrogena pains (including long-lasted headaches) it is used from 12,5-25 mg to 100 mg daily.
Day drowsiness may be reduced by the reduction of the drug’s dose and by the earlier evening intake.
In order to avoid a cancellation syndrome a drug therapy should not be interrupted abruptly, a dose of the drug should be reduced gradually during one or two weeks.
Children more than 6 years of age are to be administered individually and under strict supervision of doctor!
- Counterindications
Heart failure, acute period of infarction and that of rehabilitation, asequence of cardiac muscle, high arterial tension. Acute diseases of liver and kidneys with frank disorder of their functions, gastric and duodenal ulcer in aggravation stage. Increase in size of the prostate gland, thickening of the walls of urinary bladder, native disorders of the stomach performance, paralytic ileus. Pregnancy, breatfeeding period, childhood under 6 years of age.
Hypersensitivity to Amitriptyline.
