Selegiline should be taken with caution in cases of progressive underdevelopment of mentality, severe mental affection, tardive dyskinesia (pathologic ictal involuntary forced movements in various groups of muscles), coarse tremor (quick, rhythmic movements of limbs or trunk, provoked by muscle constrictions), peptic ulcer of gastrointestinal tract (also in anamnesis), thyrotoxicosis, pheochromocytoma, adenoma of prostate gland and prostate gland inflammation (with the presence of residual urine), closed angle glaucoma, tachycardia, severe stenocardia, toxic goiter, age under 18 years (experience on clinic application is not sufficient). In combination with Levodopa: open angle glaucoma (chronic course), liver and/or kidneys failure, melanoma, suppression of central nervous system, convulsive fits, bronchial asthma, pulmonary emphysema, myocardial infarction (also in combination with atrial, nodal and ventricular arrhythmias), age under 12 years (safety and effectiveness of the use are not determined).

Selegiline is contraindicated in event of pregnancy. Breastfeeding in the period of treatment is prohibitive.
