3. Indications for Use.
- contraception, especially in women of a late reproductive age;
- miscarriage in early pregnancy;
- endometriosis;
- womb bleeding;
- cancer of a lacteal gland and endometrium;
- adenoma and prostate cancer;
- mastopathy;
- infertility.
4. Action
Pharmacologic action – progestagens, contraceptive, antitumor.
In small doses the drug depresses ovulation. It favors retardation of the changes necessary to prepare endometrium to the implantation of a fertilized ovum and enhances the viscosity of cervical mucus.
In higher doses it takes antitumor action in hormone-sensitive malign neoformations.
Hormonal agent.
5. Posology and Administration
Depression of ovulation (contraception): recommended dose - 150 mg every 3 months (profound intramuscular injection). To make sure that a patient is not pregnant in the moment of the initial use of the drug, the first injection is recommended during the first 5 days after the beginning of a regular menstruation or before 6 weeks after childbearing.
Dysfunctional (anovulator) womb bleedings: by mouth, 5-10 mg/day during 10 days. In this period of time the bleeding is gradually ceased. In 3-7 days after the cancellation there begins bleeding of Progestine “cancellation”. After this the therapy may be repeated during 2-3 cycles starting from the 16-th day of the cycle.
Endometriosis: an intramuscular recommended dose is 50 mg once a week or 100 mg once in 2 weeks during, as a minimum, 6 months. Due to a long-lasting action the re-establishment of a menstrual cycle after such therapy may be after some time to pass. Apart from intramuscular introduction it is possible to cure endometriosis orally 10 mg 3 times a day during 90 days, beginning from the first day of the cycle. Differential exclusion of a primary amenorrhea and of a secondary one: the drug is administered 5-10 mg/day during 10 days.
For the prevention of hyperplasia of endometriosis in the estrogens therapy in menopause: it is administered 5-10 mg/daily during, as a minimum, 10 days starting from the 16 day of the 25 days estrogens treatment course.
Additional and palliative treatment of recurrent and metastatic cancer of endometriosis or cancer of kidney: 200-600 mg/daily, orally; in intramuscular introduction of form depot it is administered 0.5-1 g/week, a supporting dose is 500 mg/week.
Cancer of a lacteal gland: orally 400-1200 mg/daily; intramuscular 500 mg/daily during 28 days, then a supporting dose is introduced - 500 mg once in 2 weeks. The results of treatment may be manifested in 8-10 weeks.
For the prevention and cure of osteoporosis in post menopause it is administered 5-10 mg once a day from 12-15-th day through 25-th day of the month.
6. Counterindications
Hypersensitivity, pregnancy, tumors of genitals or lacteal gland (besides the cases of an anti-tumor therapy), bleeding from genital tracts of unknown cause, lactation period.

It is necessary to carefully follow the aptitude of the used medication form of the drug to the indication for use.

- liver failure,
- hypercalcemia,
