3. Indications for Use.

Lovastatin is indicated for the use in patients with a primary hypercholesteremia (elevated content of cholesterin in blood), accompanied with a high content of LDP (low density lipoproteins) in the absence of diet therapy curative effect, likewise in triglyceredermia patients (elevated content of triglycerides in blood), in atherosclerosis patients.

Lovastatin performs to suppress formation of cholesterin in the body.

5. Posology and Administration

Loastatin is to be taken orally during a meal; when there is hypercholesteremia — 10–20 mg single-shot during dinner; when there is atherosclerosis a dose should be 20–40 mg. If the therapy is not enough efficient a dose may be increased (with intervals of not less 4 weeks) up to  60–80 mg in 1–2 intakes.

6. Counterindications

Hypersensitivity, acute liver diseases, evidenced liver failure, general bad state of a patient, pregnancy, lactation period, childhood, adolescence and middle adolescence (under 18 years of age) safety and efficiency of the use are not determined.

The drug should be taken with caution in liver diseases, chronic alcoholism, grafting, concomitant immunodepressive therapy, chronic kidneys failure, kidney and dentist’s surgery.

The use in the period of pregnancy is counterindicated. If there is a need to use Loastatin in lactation period a matter of cessation of breastfeeding should be resolved.
