3. Indications for Use.

Infectious diseases provoked by the causative agents sensitive to Azithromycin: infections of upper parts of respiratory passages and ENT-organs – angina, sinusitis (inflammation of air cells), tonsillitis (inflammation of palatine tonsils /glands), otitis media (inflammation of middle ear cavity); scarlatina; infection of lower parts of respiratory passages – bacterial and atypical pneumonias (lung fever), bronchitis (inflammation of bronchial tubes); skin infections and soft tissues – rose, impetigo (superficial pustular purulent crust skin disease), postprimary infected dermatosis (skin diseases); infections of urogenital tracts – gonorrhea and non-gonorrhea urethritis (inflammation of urethra) and/or cervicitis (inflammation of neck of womb); Lyme disease (borreliosis – infectious disease provoked by Borrelia spirochete).

4. Action

Pluripotential antibacterial drug, which checks the growth and propagation of bacteria. In high concentrations Azithromycin have a bactericidal effect. It works on extra-cellular causative agents and intra-cellular ones.

5. Posology and Administration

Before administration of Azithromycin therapy to a patient it is well to determine sensitivity of the patient to the microflora, that provoked the disease in this patient. Azithromycin should be necessarily taken one hour before meal or 2 hours after meal. The drug is to be taken once a day.
Adults suffering from infections of upper and lower parts or respiratory passages, infections of skin and soft tissues are administered 0,5 g in the first day, then 0,25 g from the 2-nd to the
5-th day or 0,5 g every day during 3 days (a course dose is 1,5 g).
In acute infections of urogenital (genitor-urinary) tract it is administered once 1 g (2 tablets 0,5 g).
In Lyme disease (borreliosis) for the first stage treatment (erythemamigrans) it is administered 1 g (2 tablets 0,5 g each) in the 1-st day and 0,5 г every day from the 2-nd to the 5-th day (a course dose is 3 g).
For children the drug is administered with account of the body mass. Children with the body mass of more than 10 kg it is administered at the rate: in the 1-st day -  10 mg/kg of the body mass; in further 4 days it is administered 5 mg/kg each day. 3 day course of treatment is possible; in this case a one-time dose is 10 mg/kg. (A course dose is 30 mg/kg of the body mass).

6. Counterindications

Hypersensitivity to Azithromycin. Childhood under 16 years of age.

7. Should Be Taken with Precautions, if…

Caution is needed in administration of Azithromycin to patients with severe liver and kidneys compression. The drug should be administered with caution to allergic reaction patients in anamnesis (clinical history).

8. Interface with Other Medications

In order to secure all guarantees against emergence of adverse interactions while using Azithromycin together with other medications do not try to cure yourself without a doctor.

9. Overdosing

Severe nausea, temporary hearing loop, vomiting, diarrhea.

10. Side Effects

Nausea, flux, pain in the stomach, less frequent – vomiting and meteorism (flatulence). Transitory (passing) activity increase of liver ferments is possible. Extremely seldom skin rash is possible.
Dizziness, headache, anxiety, neurosis, sleep disturbance are possible.

11. Pregnancy and Lactation

Azithromycin is not for administration in the periods of pregnancy and breastfeeding, but for the cases when the favor of the drug’s application exceeds a possible risk.
